Frankincense has been considered sacred by many cultures since ancient times. The Egyptians burned frankincense at sunrise to honor their sun god Ra. In the bible it was often used as holy incense and it was brought as a gift when Jesus was born. The Ancient Greeks and Romans used it in their cremation ceremonies.
